"When people ask me for the best single dietary tip for optimal leanness, energy and sustained mental focus, I invariably tell them to try the rotating meat and nuts breakfast. Clients ranging from NHL & NFL stars to corporate executives, rave about the increased mental acuity and focused energy they derive from this food combination. The meat allows for a slow and steady rise in blood sugar. The nuts provide a great source of healthy smart fats that allow the blood sugar to remain stable for an extended period of time. Multiple studies on employee productivity or on children's attention patterns have demonstrated that a high protein breakfast does not only impact energy and productivity levels of morning till noon, but extends into the late afternoon." — Charles Poliquin
On Circadian Rhythms
Research on circadian rhythms (your body's internal clock) indicate that the summation of several important anabolic hormones peak at 3 and 11 hours upon awakening. What does that mean in plain English? Well, according to science, if you wake up at 6:00 am, you're at your strongest at 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. And, according to Olympic strength coach Charles Poliquin, your joints — specifically, the synovial fluid that lubricates your joints — require about 3 hours to reach an optimal level of warmth, which will help improve performance while decreasing the likelihood of injury.

Do you have any peer reviewed studies that agree with CHALRES "The Kook" Poliquin ?

This sounds like another "search for unicorns".

If you get parents to treat their kids like it is a "school night" rather than a Friday or Saturday night, there are much less problems in getting the kids awake and ready to play the next day.

Go to any hotel near a tournament and walk through the halls. You'll see parents lining the hallways handing out cookies, candy and soda pop at 9 or 10 PM to the players. The kids are also running through the halls at 9 PM "having fun". So, at the 10 PM curfew, you have a bunch of hyper girls overdosed on sugar and caffeine.

On top of that, every parent gives their kid a 'goodie bag' of chocolate, candy and junk food to eat in the hotel room. The next day, their kids can barely function in the morning.

On school nights, these same kids on a rigorous schedule, and the kids are fine. The kids have no problem being at school at 6 or 7 AM for band, conditioning, whatever. These same parents would *never* let their kids eat this junk at home on a school night.

I know there's hate for the boom box, but my U14 team, if we didn't have a boom box we'd be out there singing out hearts out anyways. Anything from 'Break My Stride' to 'Dancing Queen' to 'Twist and Shout' If we had a song that had a dance to it we'd be out there doing the moves. That entire team loved singing and we'd be raring to go.

I don't make the lineup until 15min before the game. The lazy/tired/slow starters don't get to play. Make sure they tell mommy and daddy why they are on the bench.
