Expected temps for the weekend and DD has games this weekend is predicted to be 105 -108 and the humidity in the south here in GA always makes it feel much hotter. Everyone be careful and keep an eye on the kids. The coaches, umps and even the spectators need to keep from being dehydrated and watched closely. :p

need to keep dehydrated

Hydrated would be the state you'd want your players, umps, coaches and fans in. In temps that high, water alone might not be enough, especially for your catchers. Cool towels for their head and neck helps. I make sure DD takes off her equipment when she enters the dugout when the temps are high.

I've always told my team to make sure they are drinking enough that they are urinating a few times during a hot day. If they have not had to use the facilities in 3 or 4 hours on a hot day like that, they need to drink more. It is a simple way to keep on top of them to remind them to drink enough.

Need to hydrate now. And all day. Heat exhaustion is nothing to play around with. Don't let them just drink gatorade that will dehydrate you also

We've been playing in those temps in Texas this last week as well. Been making the kid drink A LOT to keep from anything bad happening. Also makes you marvel at how tough these kids are when they are playing 5 games a day in that kind of heat.

In your face
Here in TN is going to be 103 Saturday and then cool off to 101 on Sunday, the joke from our weatherman. That means with the heat index it will be around 110, and dangerous.

Ive had heat exhaustion 1 time in my life, two years ago. I was building a deck for my parents everyday after work during the weekdays. ( temps around 100 ) Then DD had a tourney that weekend ( 100+ ) and about 2 o'clock Sunday I felt bad all the sudden, told the AC next to me to help me to my truck. Then I was too weak to drive so another parent took me home. ( lucky it was a close tourney )

I guess I had just sweated out too many fluids that week, and it caught up to me. I was sick, weak, and scared to death. My paramedic friend came over and gave me IV fluids, and my wife took me to the doctor the next day. Doctor put me off for a week, and he was right, took me about 5 days to "feel" normal again.

It's very real folks, watch yourselves and your kids. One thing I learned from my paramedic friend and the doctor, you CAN NOT replace the electrolytes by oral means quickly enough if you experience heat exhaustion. So if it happens go to the ER or call EMS.

Heard Gatorade is better for you mixed with 50% water, so we have girls drink it down and add water. (don't know the "why"). Don't know how the girls play in the heat and especially humidity. DD played last weekend in 100plus temps, and bless her heart, not one complaint from her or teammates that I'm aware of. (us parents got a little crabby- 2 very long hot days!) Can't stress enough to double up on the water Thursday and Friday before tourneys! And stay away from sodas. Best of luck and health!
