So Cal
Find it odd that in a dramatic game one of the WCWS championship series, a game with surprises, a Lauren Haeger bomb, twists, turns, and ultimately the tying run stranded on third, the ONLY thing that anyone wants to discuss is Curt freaking Schilling.

This is the "bitch about Curt Schilling" thread. There are other threads for the other stuff. ;)

Actually the other thread (wcws) contains no comments about the game itself. But plenty about Curt. oh well. Hoping Michigan can win tomorrow. Would love a game three.

Gotta admit, when I began watching the game I thought to myself, "Who is this bozo doing color commentary?!?". Then I saw that it was Schilling. I like the guy, but he was a fish out of water tonight. I hope they give him the rest of the series off.

I'd rather listen to Schilling, who admits that he doesn't know it all, than Smith and Mendoza, who pretend they do (when they clearly don't)!

Overall, Schilling sounded like a fish out of water. However, he did say some good things IMO. He talked about how good these ladies really are. He talked about setting batters up. He talked about how pitches being called from the dugout appeared to disrupt the tempo of the pitcher. He talked about how the pitcher needs to own the inside of the plate. He talked about how the pitcher knows better than the coach calling the pitches what pitch the pitcher feels she has better command. He talked pitching philosophy. If I had to take a guess, I would say he will do better tonight. I would rather listen to him or John Kruk than Smith and Mendozza.

Lots of good discussion here and I mean no disrespect to Schilling (compared to my HUGE disrespect for ESPN - Should have known since it IS a Disney company.....)

To me the salient long-lasting takeaway is that ESPN truly believes womens softball is a lesser sport than baseball evident through thinking this mens baseball connection needed to be made. Ya he said things like "wow these girls are talented - big deal => politically correct rhetoric....)

I'll take anyone over the nitwits in the booth. Mowens didn't know the definition of a fair ball the other guy until someone gave her a rule reference in her ear and she had to summarize it, which was still wrong. Pathetic.

Really great game. Can't wait until game 2 tonight. To keep the stress level a little lower in the house we are going to turn off the tv volume and listen to Gwar instead.
