Not sure I understand. We all have dds who play all summer long in the heat, and with travel ball tournaments sometimes they play 4 or 5 games a day. But it's too hot for college players to play one game? And many of those games could be scheduled at night. Just seems to be a strange argument given that baseball and softball are summer sports and always have been.

It's too cold for college players to play 1 game? We have all played this early season weather and all of our dd's should be used to it. The same reason you give for summer play legitimacy can be used for the early season. (Except for the night games)
The heat in the south is much different than what some think it is. Northern players may have trouble adjusting to it.. I am suggesting that just a few games down south and the conversation will be on the table again. You are not going to please everyone and some prefer the cold to the heat.

.

In Minnesota, or the east coast, most definitely yes, or actually most of the country right now... yes. But this is probably a moot point. I'm sure there are many many reasons why this will never happen. T.v. contracts and such.

I agree with that. Last thing on the subject from me is that by changing seasons to accommodate certain regions of the country you could be affecting other regions adversely.

You push it into summer then you are putting southern schools playing in 105+ temps throughout the year. tPlus the summer school issue. School is for education, correct? That's what I keep hearing on this forum. So athletics is an added benefit to the education. It is what is and you will never please everyone so keep it the way it is.

Do the changes to the starting date have to be that drastic? Have the starting date 3 weeks later. Then, the northern teams that typically so south can do so for the beginning weeks of March and last week of February. By the time they get home, the temps should be playable. The season would still end in the last week of May or even the 2nd week of June. Creating a schedule to do that should not be that tough. What would be lost is perhaps one week of competition but with creative scheduling, they might be able to play the same amount of games due to early games not being cancelled.
