Hi everybody.

I've been lurking for a little while doing lots of reading and research. The info I've found on this site has been great.

I was wondering if anybody knows of some diagrams I could print out showing the coverage for bunting. Obviously we will be going over it all at practice, but I am putting together books showing coverage for different situations, but I can't find anything for bunting.

Any help would be appreciated.

How you want to cover bunts depends on your age group and skill sets of your players. Having a pitcher that is a good fielder is a HUGE advantage because it can allow you to keep F3 at 1B, and F4 covers 2B.

In my opinion pick the best coverage you can and get good at it. It may be different depending on age and talent. We had a team with once with 2B that just had a tough time catching throws at first (10U) so we had to keep 1B home. I agree with what JAD said if you have an athletic P it helps. It's amazing how many times you can shut down small ball if you just make the simple plays. Conversely if you can't make them you are in big trouble.

Once you get the basic play down add a couple of more and work them.

Editing to add that if 3rd base does not field the ball, they run back to their base to cover. If both pitcher and 3rd are going to cover, 3rd baseman has priority.

Thanks for the diagrams. I appreciate it.

This is for a U14 team. There has never been a whole lot of teaching the girls, so I am trying to work on it before the season starts.
