It really gets me when i have to play coaches that are just obnoxious and jerks. I'm sure we all have played against them. I dislike any coach to say anything to our fans, why get involved in playground gossip. You don't want to hear it, then don't complain to the umps on every call they make. Leave the game on the field, no need for parking lot crap. I don't know weather to play in any tourney where they may be. Tourney director says he has trouble with him and the coaches every time they play.

Be an example and tell your team that regardless of what the other coaches or team does, our team is going to demonstrate good sportsmanship. Do not stoop to their level.

It's a hard life lesson even for adults to learn that they can't let others influence their actions. Don't stoop to the other coaches level. Just coach your own team.

Fortunately most coaches we see are are pretty good people.

We did use this as a teaching moment. We told our girls that, we don't act and carry on, once the game ends, leave it there after the hand shake. The bad thing is , they called our organization to complain. The coach even apologized the next day for his behavior. Just really confused about how to handle someone, that wants to try and get you in trouble. I have problems at McDonalds, and I don't ever call to complain. Just because they lose twice, just poor sportsmanship all the way around.

Some of the stuff we've seen just in 10U is absolutely nuts. We played one team that is one of those trophy hunters that has the ace pitcher but not much else. They were the worst team we've ever played for sportsmanship. Parents yelling at our pitcher, the 1B coach yelled "BOO!" at our 1B when she was making a play. Things like that. WAY over the top. The kids were horrible brats too, which of course makes perfect sense.

And of course there's the big-time org we've played 2 different teams out of and both were terrible for sportsmanship.

JAD is right and I know it, be the bigger person. Sometimes it is REALLY DIFFICULT to do. I will never understand how adults think it's OK to act like that.
