Must be in the same ASA state tournament. DD plays 16U, won first game this evening in 100+ this afternoon, play again tomorrow. How did your DD's team do?

Well we never do anything the easy way. Lost game one last night so had to play thru the losers bracket. Won all three games today so we play at 9:00am for the chance to get into the championship game...

How is Perfect Circle and his DD doing?

STK is doing well and flourishing with the team. She stayed with my family this past weekend to play in the tournament and had an absolute blast with my DD. They were like 2 sisters...STK the little sister my DD never had and my DD the big sister;) When we weren't at the fields, they were at the mall, the lake, in the hot tub and I can't remember where they all went but I know they never stopped except to eat and sleep.

Perfect Circle is doing very well but extremely busy. He went back to driving Semis which is why he hasn't been on much. He's team driving with his son for a sub-contractor that hauls (I think) for FEDEX. For those that don't know, they have to maintain an average speed of 65MPH including stops for fuel, dinners, showers, etc. Needless to say, this doesn't leave much time to get on DFP and surf:) That said, when I talk to him next which should be today sometime, I'll tell him all of you said hello and wishes him well.

Good to hear. It was fun hanging out and chatting with Perfect Circle during Coach James's 'Woodstock of Pitching' Clinic in March of 2016.

Would that be the Joliet tournament at the Inwood complex? Good luck to your daughters team.

I am from New Lenox. My daughter will be trying out for a some of the local 10u teams that play a A schedule. We will be trying out for New Lenox Lightning, Sparks, and Bluewave.

No, we were with the 18s in Elgin...worst fields in IL, total sand pits with 10-inch deep trenches in the circle and 4-inch deep trenches in the left-side batters box. Only silver lining was that the bad play continued into bracket play so we didn't have to suffer too long. :)

10U is a hazy memory, but my recollection is those are solid programs at that age. Good luck!

Well - another season over. DD's team (14U) played at 16s this last weekend and it was humiliating. The girls were "hot and tired" so they just quit playing. So frustrating. DD was quite exasperated! Tryouts start this week...not sure what she will decide. She has been offered a spot back on her team but not sure that is the best fit right now. She is tired of the quitters attitude and the "it's all about me" attitude on the team. We got a text from a team last night that is looking for a speedy outfielder. She is that - but she loves to catch as well. She is small so she gets under estimated alot but she surprises people because she is a beast. Decisions, decisions...

This weekend they are hosting ASA/USA state championships in Lancaster (CA). High is 109 today. Really tough on the catchers....

DD played in that tournament. We're from the San Fernando Valley so our girls are a little more used to playing in the heat than other teams, but we saw a pitcher get pulled, clearly suffering from heat exhaustion.

The girls played on Saturday at 7:45pm and it was still in the 90s.

Don't forget the umpires! I had the pleasure of working 10 games this weekend up there, my first time working States. I think 2 or 3 umpires went down due to the heat, and another dislocated a kneecap. Considering how hot it was, I was surprised by how little the players were actually affected by it. I think everyone I encountered did a great job of remaining hydrated. ASA/USA staff made a great move by cutting down the game lengths of the non-championship games.

Several years back DD played in Western B Nationals in AZ in July when it was over 110. Just brutal for the kids, families, umpires, field crews, volunteers, etc. They did play some late night games which was somewhat of a relief. They got 2nd place which made the experience bearable...

Yeah it was. The only game that we played under 105 was at 9:00am on Sunday. And since the way that we roll is to play thru the loser's bracket we had to play a LOT of games...
