We have this guy, keeping score for us now. He is just clueless as to how to talk to a child. Even the simplest comments come out of his mouth all wrong. Told a player (who now has left the team) after hitting a shot that rolled to the warning track on a multi-use field, that she scored on (HR), there was a play at the plate, not really close but it was a play. " Next time, hit it further." No congrats, Nothing. That child, left the team, the next week. There are more stories, but until this season is over, I have to keep my mouth shut.

You should have heard what we told each other. Our teammate would bust her butt to get to a ball, only to see it drop. We would say "one more step." (And you would have had it.
Girls are overthinking what people say, I think.
