Boomers - It is hard to see the vids but I know that your DD from previous posts was a leaper (meaning both feet coming off the ground). Mine was too and it was years of pain.

Anyway, in Video 2 I think I see both feet off the ground. In video 1 it doesn't look like it but again it is very difficult to see for me.

If you have better clarity on your end take a look and see if she is leaping. If she is, I would go back to the reply that BM gave in 2013. It is the most simple statement but the one that is overlooked by many IMO. My DD and I (mainly I) was on a quest for distance, to hit the chalk....and a hard drive turned into a leap. She got out there but her effort was frugal (and it takes more energy to leap than drive IMO) She was a ballerina with beautiful mid-air pair of leg scissors. I would argue you will not have much stabilization when you both feet are in the air and forget about timing, impossible to get a good timing with the feet in the air. Again, this may not apply to you and your DD today but it was very helpful us and worth posting again if nothing else.

We've been working it slow.
I really think it's essentially a multiple and correct, repetition thing - until it becomes natural.

Really hard to address during season, unfortunately.

We put it off until the beginning of August where we knew she would have a good solid month or longer of no games to work on these things.
Lots of walk-throughs into a bow-net.
Once she got going on it, she would throw 80 or so pitches 2x per day, 5x a week - mostly on her own.
It takes a l o n g time to take hold.
Here we are 6 weeks later and it's still not "natural" for her yet.

BUT I will say, getting that laces-forward toe-tip drag, combined with a good plant foot angle, has really helped so many other aspects of her pitch,
especially with respect to overall posture, and throwing arm proximity. She still has a ways to go, but is showing more and more improvement weekly.

my DD has the same collapsed heel + kick to 1st issue that we've been trying to fix for a while. in a way i'm glad to hear that it's a looonnggggg process cause that problem rears its ugly head worse during tournaments and it's mid-season :(

i will have DD read about throwing on her own 80 pitches 2x / day 5 days per week. i can hear it now. awwww dad!

Wow. I forgot all about that thread. I appreciate you bringing it up! I will try to get a better quality video ASAP.

just to clarify:
the majority of these 80 were from static drill positions,
(liberty, show-it, etc)
working up to the last 20 or so as walk-throughs.
NOT 80 full pitches 2x per day!

when i told my DD, her first reaction was... does she go to school? does she pitch early in the morning before school and after? :)

oh - and this was all before school started.
we dont start until the Wed after Labor Day up here in NY.

now, shes playing Modified Volleyball, and we are losing 5-6min of daylight every day.

so, down to about 80 pitches maybe 3x per week now. <wink>

ahhh....that question really leads to what I am seeing. There is a force to resist prior to the plant foot bearing weight...the centripetal force of the arm flying around in a circle. I think the hip closure starts as a resistance to the arm circle just before full plant. and finishes as a resistance to the ground. So think from toe touch to heelplant, somewhere in there. The resistance to the arm circle is the hula hoop feel, the resistance to the ground that immediately follows is what I think most others key on. My point is that there is another power adder here that I don't see discussed-I think it is active and is not just stabilization to allow ground force energy transfer up the chain. It is distinct and present in all high level pitchers. Not to cross thread too much but that is my best answer to your point.

There is a gif of Ueno in the model pitchers thread, sorry I can't post it, but I think it shows what you are describing. Her hip begins to close before her foot touches the ground. It's on the last page of the thread. FFS posted it.

Below is a slo mo vid taken in late May. I was hoping to capture the hip closure action. The little pinstripe on her pants is a good reference for me. This was before we started working on closing the hips a little more so be easy on her lol. Any thoughts?

I'm not sure how to post the actual video instead of just a link to it. Is that possible on here?
