KK has made great stride in her timing but we can't seem to fix her turning her hand early as she comes to abduct to whip the ball. Is she closing to early? She can whip it fine at a 45 degree stand.

she needs to lead with the elbow more. in the 2nd video her elbow gets to her hip 1st, then the whip happens, in the 1st video, the elbow doesnt get to the hip fast enough.

and try and make her keep that palm more up at 9

to my eye, her front-side seems a little "soft", and she seems to be bending toward 3b?
doesn't look like getting any brush interference is in the cards at all...

When she's stationary, her posture is so much more upright and neutral/balanced,
and arm circle much closer to her body at release...

I think Corlay nailed it. That lean when doing the full pitch is taking away her timing mechanism to initiate the hand turn into I/R. She even does a slight 3rd base upper body lean in the drill. I think she has a mental image that her arm and hand need space to clear her hip instead of the image of her arms sucking into her sides and allowing some contact. in the drill her upper arm is a lot closer to her body so she can feel the appropriate time to engage the hand turn but in the full pitch she does not have this so she is "guessing" based on where she thinks her arm is but because it is going so much faster she is turning it early.

Nick,

Being that her arms are attached to her torso... I'd have her focus on Adducting into and across it. She's too rotational... pitching around her body, as opposed to across it. Once her upper body rotates, so will her arm... remember... they are attached. ;)

Keep the rear shoulder back... because its rotational path is pushing the arm into one... that is away from her body. In other words... stay open longer.

Haven't talked to you guys in awhile - say hi to KK for me!

JJ and Corlay,

Here is a front video of KK and I really think this is the main issue. I think she comes out with a lean to much instead of more centered. How can I fix this?

i would say close the rear hip more, she looks like she is not closing at all, and leaving that back leg very far back like an anchor.

i am very interested in this thread because my DD has this same problem, the 3rd base lean and lack of brush interference.

her practices have been focused on getting a backward lean very soon after push off, and setting the hip while in the air so that she can adduct the arm into the right hip. with the 3rd base leaner the hip isnt in position to facilitate any brush interference, the arm blows through in front of the torso.

it is very frustrating to get them to change what they have been doing for so long.

Java !!

KK always ask about :) I can't seem to get KK to stay open longer she can do this drill that JoJo showed me which she stays open with front leg up like flamingo. KK has no problem pulling the ball down without having to close if in the flamingo position but as soon as she puts her foot down she wants to close.

The weird thing is that I remember video of her from just a few months ago and I remember thinking that she had fixed this issue. This most recent video looks more like some of the first vids you posted of her.

I don't know how to fix it, I can see problems but unless I have faced them with my DD my solution list is short. My DD has a completely different set of issues.
