As many of you know, my DD has been working on her circle. We took the advice of many and decided to go back to the basics and begin the process of correcting it. Below are some of tonights work. It is absolutley amazing how far the ball travels when it was released. She was going about half speed and the ball flew about 50 feet.... Please chime in if you have any input. Thanks!

Remember "Loosey Goosey." Even more loose with the lower arm. Seems like she's almost forcing her mechanics. Have her throw several of these with her eyes closed, then adjust her feet/body angle until she's on target east/west. Let her front foot point where ever it wants. I'll bet she ends up standing a little more closed.

Ken this is pretty whippy. The frame rate Bommer uses is so slow it looks stiff...........

Boomer........Your DD is WAY TO SQUARE to the target in the above clip.........And WAY TOO SIDEWAYS in this one.........

Lets get some consistency in her drill position ok? Your killin me here smalls!.......Or should I say her LOL!

She needs to be 30-45 degrees open........Not feet sideways to the target..........And not feet facing the target.........

Feet/Hips/Shoulders open and all facing about 30-45 degrees open to the target..........With her right shoulder over the target line..........Right toes on the target line.........Left toes back from the target line........Use the line you have in the rear clip above, but draw a 45 degree line right through it......And put her right toes at the intersection facing/up against that 45 degree line........and her left toes facing/up against that 45 degree line just back from the 90 degree line........Like this.......See the black line?......Draw that line and use it to put her toes against:

Then I want you to do this drill and film it from behind............And the side as above........

With the ball in hand, I want her to point the throwing arm to the target in front of her.........I want the ball JUST OUTSIDE OF HER THROWING SHOULDER..........NOT IN FRONT OF HER STERNUM......NOT DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF HER SHOULDER........BALL FACING THE GROUND TO START..........

I want her to perform a 3/4 Circle throwing drill from this position, vs. the half circle 12:00 drill above...........Now listen carefully........

I DO NOT WANT THE BALL TO PASS OVER HER THROWING SHOULDER..........KEEP THE BALL JUST BARELY OUTSIDE HER THROWING SHOULDER OVER THE TOP OF THE CIRCLE and let the ball fly just as she does above.........Also........ALLOW HER TO TAKE A STEP FORWARD WITH HER LEFT FOOT TO PERFORM THIS DRILL..........

The circle will feel slightly abbreviated.......That's OK......Her weight may feel slightly toward her toes when she throws........That's ok too!.........Just get her to perform a 3/4 circle with a forward step from the drill position, keeping the ball just barely outside the throwing shoulder over the top of the circle..........

Post the clips please..........And don't post them in "slo-motion"..........

Thx!

I'm seeing her elbow staying bent through release. I think the before/after look great. I'm wondering if your suggestion to adjust her angle will allow her elbow to unlock the lower arm through release?

Her elbow is bent at release for 2 reasons that are causing the same flaw. She needs to "lever" the ball OUTSIDE her hip so it can "see" the target

Both when she is too square and/or when she is too sideways and her elbow/arm goes behind her back.......

Lets see what the 3/4 drill with the ball staying outside the shoulder and 45 degree posture gives us..........It's only a drill.........But if you want a sample......Go find Ellen Renfro's delivery and see the abbreviated circle this drill creates........
