What does the corner mean to you
Does the top (waist up) stay straight when the bottom is loaded

If you wrap the bat to far around the corner your eyes leave the ball, and you have a circular swing.

Anyone care to share their thoughts on this.... Making a corner

You talk about "separation" frequently. I think of the corner as creating max separation, but the separation is between the rear leg and the lower back. The coil, the pull back, of the lower back is maxed out...stretch is max...the stretch is held...the corner is maintained...because as the rear leg is turning forward the back is pulling back.

If you wrap the bat to far around the corner your eyes leave the ball, and you have a circular swing.
IMO it doesn't matter where the bat is...though if your coil or stretched is maxed, it is about impossible to wrap the bat too far.

I think I understand what you are saying about pulling the back around and pulling "both eyes" off the ball. IMO that is why it takes some experimenting and some work to get the stretch tight and not need a lot of movement....different bend at the waist at the rear leg etc, until you find a tight stretch with no slop.

Bonds creates a corner without showing the pitcher his numbers.

You know this swing. IMO the action your dd is creating...sending the barrel rearward...her lower is turning forward...is creating a corner that the bat is whipping around. Maybe ask her next time you have her do that....ask her if she feels that...if that sounds accurate.

If you are able to take both eyes off the ball your rear leg is not IRing. Your premise has nothing to do with creating a corner.

If you are able to coil too far you are probably coiling around a spinal axis not a scip axis. Or your hips are connected to your lower half and not your upper half.

Right before the hands turn the barrel rearward, the position of the rear elbow 'poking out the back'. The pull back with their back/scap creates the corner.
Here is what the corner is to me.

So when you teach a hitter you try to connect the hips to the upper half and not the lower half?

We have a left handed shortstop this year - she can make a throw over to 1B without having to shuffle step and has the best arm in the IF....she creates a corner on every throw and snaps the ball over to 1B....not a big kid....

Think about what part of the body has to create the axis for this to happen.

So when you teach a hitter you try to connect the hips to the upper half and not the lower half?
