Bat sizing
sorry was a quick post b4 we headed out the door this afternoon ....bat lag as in alittle slow thru the zone but talking with her coach tonight we think its more of a her pulling her head then anything.....also she is not a big girl 4'10 at best and alittle over 80lbs.....very quick footed and...- Andrew72

Bat sizing
Ok quick question here....my 12 year old is in need of a new bat...out grew her old one and is using one on loan. She is using a 31/21 just a run of the mill cheap bat....actually hits very well but I have noticed some bat lag. She tells me it is not to heavy but I am not 100% sure....any...- Andrew72

DD11...I guess I dont see where I am down playing anything...all involved know this will not be easy to get rolling and my guess is the first year or so will be rough as can be.....and I am in talks with our local league to keep the girls in the league but then sponsor them for tourneys as...- Andrew72

Thanks to each and everyone of you for the tips...I am sorry I haven't commented back till now...work and being sick isn't much fun. We do know this will not be an easy thing and I have spoke with many parents about the fact that it will take time as travel ball is a diff beast the rec ball...- Andrew72

Starting over
She is very excited to get rolling told her the work starts monday for sure...not gonna wear her out but a little bit each day she will be fine by next year or atleast set in the right direction....we are talking about winter ball indoors here...we shall see- Andrew72

Ok just got my DD the NECC dvd in the mail today...Birthday gift that she got early as I broke the puppy out as I will need to learn everything just to get her up to speed...first off GREAT DvD...secondly it looks like for the most part she will be starting over on 80% of what she has learned...- Andrew72

cmustangsfp ......Ive had chats with a few of the girls and told them dont get down if we lose and lose alot of games....its going to take time to gel and most of them deff understand that...I think its the parents Im more worried about lol. Green......I am lucky that my daughter for her age...(11 in a cpl weeks)... understands we dont have the extra right now...and she is actually ok with missing out ......I work part time raise my girls and just started a photography business.....so next year is atleast a goal....plus little...- Andrew72

My DD wanted so badly to attend NECC summer camp this year but sadly we could not afford the trip but I told her we would shoot for next year.......sooo next best thing I placed an order for the DVD today...camp was her suggestion for her birthday gift...DVD will have to do this time :p- Andrew72

Looking for Catching Gear for a small player
Coletrain....I ran into this issue a cpl years back....my DD turns 11 in a few weeks and is 4'7" 72 lbs roughly....I got her the Easton set 2 years back and its done well sofar....chest was alittle big on her but its worked out fine....she keeps begging me to hydrodip her helmet...I told her...- Andrew72

I want to thank everyone for the input and support....I am brain storming like a mad man on how to raise the funds and keep the cost low for the girls and their parents......we are from a very small town of around 1700 but have a bigger town near by so fundraisers should do ok....as of right now...- Andrew72

Inside...Ive talked with our league but due to politics I will not be considered as an all star coach and they are only offering 1 Day a week for us to play extra....our season is only 4 weeks long for games and 4 weeks practice....due to the amount of teams thru the ranks we would never get...- Andrew72

Not sure if this is the best spot to post this but guess I will find out. My DD plays summer rec league and I have helped coach.....the league in general is perfect for keeping her active but thats about it. Teams were unbalance with girls in 4th grade playing against girls in 8th...- Andrew72

Should I buy her a catcher's mitt?
Grogger...... we still have bugs to work out with DD's skills but it will all come in time...I plan on letting her play SS or 2nd on days she isnt catching...though we have a pitcher this year that is 9 and pitches harder and faster then our 11 year olds...so trying to keep them paired to build...- Andrew72

Grogger31.......I really dont think we will have an issue with the bigger/stronger girls because the ones playing catcher dont want to be there...so they just half way go thru the motions...we are from a small school so that helps as well.....my DD's main thing is working on arm strength...but...- Andrew72
