We went to a wider stance and her que is to pick her stride foot up and put it back down in the same place. She still has a minimal stride, but we were fighting lunging (eyes dropping) and this has helped.
Runners at 1st and 2nd, pop-up hit, Umpire calls for infield fly rule. Fielder drops the pop up, runners begin to advance (shouldn't have, but they did), fielder picks up ball and steps on 2nd base. The call was batter is out on "infield fly rule" and the runner trying to advance to second is...
For a change, my daughter tucks a knuckle and throws it like her peel drop. Is 8-10 mph slower than fastball and drops down and away to a RH batter. It's a good pitch for her, but as discussed here, we do have concerns about it getting "picked" as she gets older. We have been trying to learn...
Neither have been jerks about it. They just have different philosophies and I am uncertain about what advice to provide. The PC says, "I would rather have a HS pitcher (Junior or Senior) come to me and say I throw 60+, but I need help with mechanics rather than a player who says, my mechanics...
DD is struggling with this. PC is wanting her to focus on velocity and coach wants her to focus on strikes.
Should a 12U pitcher throw every fastball as hard as they can? Or should you have a "cruising speed" (where you focus on mechanics and accuracy)? And, if needed, be able to reach down...
Mr. Rope,
I asked for help. Criticism is part of the solution. She started lessons in November. She actually started pitching last summer, but neither of us knew what we were doing. What you guys say makes plenty of sense. We will certainly spend our time on posture and leg drive. She...
DD just started in November. First video is in mid-December and second video is mid-March. Tell me what you see, good or bad, so we can continue to improve. It was very windy in second video, but I had a rare opportunity of her pitching to someone else, so I shot some video...
Thank you for all of the responses. After reading them all several times, I believe it does cause her to bend at the waist (leading to all of the other issues mentioned). I have heard him say both to her ("don't bend at the waist" and "stop bowling"). I am going today to get a squeaky toy to...
My DD's PC has been getting onto her about her "bowlers kick". PC wants her back foot to drive straight towards the plate. DD's natural move is more of a "bowlers kick" (back foot finishes behind her front leg).
When she focuses on it, she can do what PC ask. But, on the field, in the heat...
Thanks for the links Ken B. And Coach James, we have just started working with rotating the hand. As with everything else, it will take time to get used to.
She started out trying the horseshoe or circle change. But we have tinkered with several other grips (palming the ball, knuckle, etc.). Everything is just too hard.
DD is having trouble getting the right speed differential between fastball and change-up. Any tidbits that you might have would be appreciated. We have tried different grips...she throws them accurately, but struggles with velocity.
Thanks in advance.
Well, having spent a great portion of my day yesterday reading replies, reading stickies, and watching suggested video, I can tell you that our PC falls into the HE category. What we have been told to work on is posture at release (says she has too much forward lean...costing her mph) and...
I agree with earlier statements.
1. Do not bring it up pre-game.
2. Set up just inside of 3rd baseline and step across as you catch the ball.
Anyone who calls obstruction doesn't know what they are doing.

This is all I have now. I will update with better video as soon as possible. This is after 6 lessons. Still lots of work to do, but if you have thoughts or ideas...I'm all ears.
