    Crow Hop vs. Replant?

Which is the better way to gain momentum for an outfield throw? Is it better to Crow Hop (high jump into plant position and then throw) or a Replant (weight back leg, reweight it by hopping onto it again or twice on the same foot)? Crow Hop Replant

    Wide Stance Help

I have a player who sets up with a really wide stance because she feels comfortable in it and her hitting coach prefers his hitters to hit this way. I can't post a video, but if you're interested in giving it a look, PM me. Thanks!

    Bug Squishing, why not?

Try the model swings thread. Page 10 has a lot of examples of the things being talked about in this thread.

Best video app for iPhone 5

All-knowing DFP board: I'm slowly moving into the 21st century and my wife bought me an iPhone 5. What's the best video app for the iPhone 5 for videoing hitters? I'd like to be able to use slow motion as well. Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Main Flaw in Most Flawed Swings

Good stuff, Doug. When there was one of the "epic threads" on turning the barrel two Christmases ago, I started to work on what your posts show with my high school team, and the positive results were pretty significant. Thanks for breaking it down.

    Anything good in this swing?

I agree with the arm bar part. It's causing the elbows to lose their spacing relative to each other: A great drill to work on this is the Barrel Path Drill: The hands should look closer to this at contact:

    Anything good in this swing?

It appears her hips are turning only to get out of the way of her hands. She should coil into her back hip and then use her lower back muscles to "whip" her torso around, unwinding from the bottom up. Her core muscles are a large muscle group that should be engaged. The Walkthrough/Happy...

    Bustos - Howard Carrier

I've had fun reading this thread the past few days. In a related aside, this clip of Davis really shows the stretching of his core (look at the creases in the uniform pants and jersey) as he moves out. I'm going to use this to show my hitters how this should look, and more importantly, get...

    Stupid Things Coaches Say...

    water bottle drill

I hear what you're saying, but you can do this drill in slow motion and keep the water in the bottom of the bottle. I guess I don't understand the need for the feel of the water getting to the top before it goes back down to the bottom in the throw. To me, it changes the wrist angle to...

    water bottle drill

After working this at a youth clinic and with my high school team, I've skipped having the water get into the top of the bottle at all. If you do this drill keeping the water in the bottom of the bottle the whole time (centrifugal force keeping it in the bottom as the bottle is pulled up and...

    Great People here at DFP

I've appreciated the help from a lot of people on this board. On the hitting side, from way back, Hitter. I also appreciate more recently RayR, FFS, softballphreak, Cannonball, rdbass, redhotcoach, straightleg, and Ken Krause. I know I'm forgetting people, as well. From the pitching side...
