What are your favorite drills for tryouts?

Like to have little competitions like last girl standing just watching them compete and who congratulates the winners.

Big pitchers can be intimidating, but when I see a team choose the smaller one to start, I'm more concerned. Although I've seen smaller girls throw hard, they're usually there because they can consistently throw to a spot. With a cooperative umpire's big strike zone, this can be a problem.

Yep! My daughter threw pretty hard for 14U because she was considered “taller” at that age but because she‘s a skinny thing and hasn’t filled out yet she had to learn to rely on her off speed and being a spinner when she started playing 18U at age 15. She might not get a ton of K’s anymore at the level she’s playing at but she sure can induce a lot of easy ground outs and pop flies. It works for her and you can see the batters get frustrated that they can’t make solid contact.
