Has anyone heard anything lately about the age changes for next year?

Heard couple organizations have told their teams USSSA will make the change for next year. Assuming someone reached out for feedback or to give them a head's up.

I think the bigger question is PGF where teams are less likely to play up. Also weird that some of their tournaments already follow class instead of birth year.
Nope, USSSA still trying to hold onto their illogical dates

This whole conversation is crazy to me. No matter where you put the date people are going to gripe. If you go strictly by grade year people are going to gripe.

Right which begs the question why did USA, PG, and a few smaller associations make the change?

I just wish they would all get on the same page, whichever one that is.

It's not about "will people gripe". It's about what makes the most sense. People gripe about everything, if that was the requirement, "no gripes" nothing would get done, anywhere, ever.

Having kids play with the same grades in school, makes the most sense. 1-3 months of age difference really isn't the reason a kid is better at the game. It is ludicrous that people say 10U USA AGE rules are making "older teams that have a huge advantage".

I have a 5th grade daughter with a birthday in Nov. Per USSSA, she would not be able to play with her 10U team that are ALL in 5th grade and would have to move to 12U and play with 6th graders who have school ball (but oh wait, she can't play in school ball, because she is only in 5th grade). So instead, she would just have to sit around and do nothing for 1.5 months while all of her classmates play 10U Fall ball and while all of her 12U friends are playing school ball.....

I haven't heard anybody give any real reason why Sept 1st. is a huge problem. Yes they complain that having Sept. 1st and Dec 31st between the two major associations is stupid, but not why Sept 1st is stupid. Lots of people say Dec 31st makes less sense however.

If the whole reason for this is so they can play with there school friends, then I vote for grade/graduation year regardless of age.

I think the argument against is could be playing older kids if held back. But the fact is those are kids they will be competing against entire school ball career (unless they age out) and for spots on college teams.

Not sure there is right answer, but current state of things doesn't make sense. We have seen couple USA/PG age teams this year. They play few PGF tourneys that go by class and just skip USSSA completely or play up.

Yes, the "held back kids" are the reason they still have a year requirement in USA. It eliminates playing against the dunce that was held back 3 years and is 6'2" and 220lbs in 6th grade!
