To me as a layman coach, the Hanson principle isn't about what techniques to specifally coach, but more about seeing what high level hitters do: To use what I see in slow motion game swings as the truth. Not necessarily just a slow motion swing.
It is a beautiful swing. But what really turns the barrel, hands, forearms or back folding under.... this swing reminds me of what Justin Stone describes in his continuous pinch drill. Also I am not seeing the lead elbow action in this clip as illustrated in the previous Instructor clips.
Do you guys have any idea how trying to copy this swing would lead to casting

Hey julray, first post here, but have been reading the site for a little bit, and have come to get the feel that some are trying to twist the camera lens to intentionally throw things out of focus...just saying. It is a beautiful swing. But what really turns the barrel, hands, forearms or back folding under....
If you copy her barrel path to get "behind and through" the ball no, it would not. But if you simply drop the barrel flat behind the hitters shoulder, and then sweep the barrel "around" instead of "out" from the body, then yes, there is a good chance that a hitter could then "cast" the swing out wide swing around her body, and not "out from it".Do you guys have any idea how trying to copy this swing would lead to casting
Funny for me to read these various ideas. How would one apply Epstein's ideas about the weather vane in some of these examples? Would these be over exaggerations of weather vanning?
Only one way to find out. Pick up a bat and duplicate it. The guy in the videos being displayed did that. And he produces students who can duplicate that. Dozens of professional baseball players who are in that pattern.........
