Well annoucers just said it, JT Gasso is continually telling them to swing down or angle down... "HIT A GROUND BALL". Patty said in between innings, we need to hit more ground balls vs Osorio.
She said she just tried to keep her hands above the ball.
This week all our team did was hit off atee. The girls were asked to hit line drives. after they could consistently do this, they were asked to hit grounders, and long fly balls till they could do all the above. All with hands above the ball. I believe that Zep has it right as far as swing plane.
so does Tewks, IMO. https://youtu.be/9ohE51yiD4s
Mann, please clarify what you mean by "hands above the ball". I'm not picturing a tee swing in which the hands are below the ball.
I see ... Mann was working with players with a mentality of swinging-level-to-the-ground.Mann, please clarify what you mean by "hands above the ball". I'm not picturing a tee swing in which the hands are below the ball.
I don't know if Mann uses it the same way, but "keep your hands above the ball" is a cue I have commonly used with girls who have a swing concept of having their hands at the level of the ball, and the bat level to the ground at contact (a DBSF swing pattern is one example). The cue gets used in conjunction with an example of an angled swing plane and attacking from above the ball.

My favorite part of Tewks video is the clear dispelling of idea that backspin should be the goal in softball/baseball when in every other sport (tennis, he mentions, but golf too) you use backspin to create soft shots that don't go very far). Physics is the same in softball/baseball,
