Someone in this thread mentioned the lack of soccer stats as being part of the reason and that makes some sense to me.
You can be the #1 delusional softball parent, but at least some part of your brain has to be able to understand when your daughter bats 2 for 16 in a tournament or makes multiple obvious errors, that lack of playing time or position in batting order is warranted. The #1 delusional parent of the defensive midfielder will have less data for the occasional reality check.
Even though my wife's side of the family are soccer fanatics/players/coaches, none of my kids ever wanted to play, so what do I know.
