Sliding pads?

Hi-
My 9U girl has made the 10U all-star "travel-lite" team. One of the items of gear they suggest is sliding shorts and pads. This is all new to us since we can't slide or steal in our 9U league. Shorts were easy enough, but the "one size fits most" Schutt neoprene-type pad I bought for her just slips down her leg as she runs. Not really much help if it's just flopping around in her pant leg as she runs to second!

So does anyone have a suggestion for a decent sliding pad for a tall, lean 9yo? Maybe something that straps on over her pants? Or would it be better to wear under her pants?

If she's wearing softball pants, I would not worry about a sliding pad(s). I would, however, invest in sliding shorts.

Look at these. Trace softball knee pads - Shop sales, stores & prices at TheFind.com and see if Trace is adjustable/removable. It is difficult to know what the coach wants. Sliding/compression short AND knee pads? Ask the coach for specifics.

My 10u did wears volleyball knee pads under her pants. We had the same issue with the sliding pads. She says they are very comfy, and fit well. Also wears sliding shorts.

We've had success with the Mizuno youth sliding pads that are small. DD started wearing them at 9 and they stayed up- unlike the others she tried I think she used whatever youth model was before this, but the reviews indicate they are just as small. Thanks, all. I ordered some longer pads similar to the ones Amy suggested above, but if they don't work out I'll try those Mizunos or some generic volleyball pads.
