State of Confusion
It depends obviously on the coaches credentials. I can make an argument that if you arent qualified you shouldnt be coaching at all. Hitting and pitching is only part of softball. But there are all types of teams, and all levels and ages of play. I have known a few girls that played on very good travel teams that did not play HS softball. The reason was because they could recognize that the HS coach didnt have a clue what they were doing, and was teaching wrong things.

If you are unsure of what you are teaching, dont. Get some help that is sure while you learn. Experienced coaches that have been around a while will be capable of coaching pitching and hitting, and recognizing when their help is warranted , and when they have nothing they can add.

You are in Los Angeles apparently, Fastpitch mecca, so Im sure you know of the OC Batbusters, whose 16U team has about 3 national championships in the last 6 yrs.

But, even they have been beaten by teams whose only pitching and hitting instruction comes from a single coach, with no private instruction. So, again, it all depends on if the coach knows what he is teaching.
