What are the rules for playing with a cast in ASA and LL? It is a hard cast on the glove arm. Thanks

It has to be padded.

ASA Rule 3 Section 6 Part E:

Casts/Prothesis: All casts and splints must be padded. . .

Basically it's up to the umpire to deem it safe for play or illegal.

Um, is this question for real?

If the person has a broken bone, then they should NOT be on the diamond. Pure and simple.

Actually, my DD has a cast one her right (throwing) arm due to a broken finger. We bubble-wrapped the cast and put a sock over it, and she was our catcher's courtesy runner for the first 2 games this morning.

A friend of our's DD is a pitcher. She broke her hand last season. When dad took her to the doc, the doc asked if she had her glove, so he could fit her cast perfectly so she could still play. And she did.
