It's great that you are even thinking about how you might develop players, but it's probably too much to hope for with just you and 20 players of vastly different ability. While DD's high school varsity and JV teams often practiced together, the MS team was usually on its own with one coach. The "development" was left to whatever youth team they were on and nobody made any of the school teams who couldn't play at a reasonable level. Practices were mostly team-specific play execution and scrimmage time. If one kid couldn't perform adequately at a position, there were others who could. Darwin would have loved it.

If possible, you might try to run additional separate sessions for the less experienced. As previously noted, having experienced players working throwing drills with novices will cause problems.

Would not recommend that because there are too many reasons why student players will not attend 100%.

Including but not limited to~
~Illness
~Injury
~Being academically ineligible
~Parents said they can't as punishment
~They forgot where their uniform/glove is.
~They purposely can't find their uniform/glove.
~Had something else to do that was more interesting.
~Doctor's appointments that the only time the parent could schedule a doctor appointment was during a softball function or game.
~*Some of the players ate a pot brownie on the way to practice. Consequently several players got removed from the team.

Stuff like that there,
They are all factual occurrences.
Going to add, sometimes the person who brought the pot brownie was the least expected person on the team to do so.

Yesterday, our first day back from spring break, was the least attended practice of the year. Most of those excuses were on the list. Not the pot brownies, though there's one girl I have some suspicions about...
