What's this term "off season" you speak of?
Our team has 3 slappers were looking for drills that focus on bat control / placement. All are freshman and getting interest from D1 and D2 programs.
I picked up a drill a few years ago from Patrick Murphy at Alabama. We do "target practice" put buckets down for soft slap, hard slap(5/5 hole), power slap area etc etc. They need to try and hit the bucket or get it in the bucket. Works great becasue they get instant feedback as to where their bat placement is and hand placement. We use both tee work, and front toss. Both are excellent, as they can then see the speed then need to attack as well with the proper footwork.
Hope this helps!
Going to try it out tonight!
In the cold weather states that is the few days in the winter when is snows so hard it takes them a couple of day to clear the roads before you can get to the indoor practice facility. Something you Texans don't know about too well.
