I cannot recall where I first saw the link, but it was around a 10-15min youtube video of Bobby describing the Knob to Ball swing vs the Barrel to Ball. It was very interesting as he showed how deep in the zone you can hit vs knob to the ball, and represented this by placing balls on the ground for an inside and outside pitch for both types of swings. I was looking to share this video with someone but dang if I can't find it.

I implore help from the **'Throbbing Brain' that is DFP to help me find the link.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks FFS, unfortunately there is a different one I was referring to in which he shows the motions of each swing and also places baseballs down on the ground showing the increased coverage the Barrel swing has over the Knob swing. It is a longer video around 15 min and I think newer, but I can't find a link thru the normal searches.

Thanks again for the help.

He's basically saying that pushing forward is not ideal ... and he is correct. He is also correct that many young kids "push the bat".

It doesn't necessarily have to be looked at from a 'turning the barrel' perspective.

Listen to Ortiz ... he gets it ... and he doesn't describe it as a 'turning of the barrel'.

You can't be "short to" and "push the bat". Being "short to" is about getting up to speed with the body ... and not by pushing the barrel forward.

Many young hitters have an ‘arm’ or ‘hand’ phobic need to push the bat handle forward from the start of their ‘swing launch’. They don’t appreciate the use of the entire body to gain initial bat speed without the arms pushing the handle forward.

Those at BBD have made fun of the demo below for concluding “my arms didn’t extend”.

The mentality of “my arms didn’t extend” is not a bad mentality to have in initiating swing launch … … … but it’s an awful mentality to hold onto throughout the entire swing.

Not sure if you were responding to me or not.. but my question was, "Hey FFS, is there a difference in what Tewks is teaching versus Antonelli?

Julray, I have a difficult time viewing Tewks' video. He starts off by talking about "Swingbuilder's taking the knob to the ball". I don't every recall Swingbuilder talking about taking the knob to the ball. Look at Swingbuilder's video above ... does that look like taking the knob to the ball? It doesn't to me.

The positive you want to take away from these blurbs is that pushing the handle forward is not correct.

Yep got the part about push and no SB's video looks nothing like a push pattern, quite the opposite in fact.

In this video Tewks talks about 3 types of swings, push, pull and Elite

IMO.. in this video Tewks is demonstrating more of the pull type swing he refers to in the video above

While Antonelli is demonstrating more of the elite type swing Tewks is referring to in Tewks 1st video
