It really depends on the team and coaches and what they focus on. Last season we had 3 maybe 4 fast girls a few average girls and few slow girls. This season we had 6 returners 3 of them were our faster players, 3 were considered slower last season, 1 of them who was considered slow but a smart base runner grew a bit/thinned out and went to speed and agility classes over the later summer she went from slow to average speed. All our new additions had average or above average speed.

my question is, why didn't the OP attend a few diff tryouts to gauge the make up of various teams before signing her on to the one in question? especially being a coach himself, he should have had a clue before hand what this team offered. not trying to be a nay sayer. but i have spent so much time over similar situations.
