Tell the parents to get them to bed at the same time they do for school night. Get them there at least 1 hour prior to game time. Get in their ears and don't take any whining. If you start with high energy and keep it up. They will come around. Don't let the parents feed them doughnuts or any crap like that. All that does is fill them up and makes them lethargic. Kids perform better when they are a little hungry... Literally. Not starving.. Just a little rumbling.

Practice early in the morning. Get them used to getting up an going.

Even at 10U I would discuss diet during tournament season both with the team and the parents. Sometimes depending upon the tournament and how far to travel it's not unusual to have to leave the house by 5:30 am for an 8:00 start time. On those days, I remember our 10U team wouldn't perform real well either. A good warm up prior to the game with the coaches really excited helped.

There are a few things that can help:
1) Early bed time the night before
2) No sleep overs the night before
3) Good (light) breakfast, no sugar
4) Light dinner the night before

How about remembering that these are 8-10 year old kids and that at this age it's more about the improvement process than the results?? I'm all for teaching responsibility to the girls and each one learning to be prepared to give 100% when she steps on the field (or she loses playing time)...but these aren't college players...are they?

If you've got college coaches scouting your 10U team to see how they play at 8 AM on a Saturday...wow, good job.

Play tag instead of your boring old stoic warmups. Make everything a game. It's softball, it's not serious business at any level, have fun.

That sounds good for the kids. My DD's 10U coach often used to have them warm up for early games by playing pepper. They always loved pepper.

Hillbily, can you describe what you are expecting of them (your desired routine) and what they are doing?

When we get to the field on Sat morrning we get the girls throwing to each other until all the girls get there. we then do some Dynamic warmup stuff. high knees, Cross over's, frankenstine walks, light jog ect. usually 4 to 5 differant things. then we break up into hitting stations with the pitchers and catchers going first.. and then they start there warm ups......... then play we are just sluggish. We played this weekend and did well but we played better in our last game of the day which isnt all bad...

Yeah, cut it out with the boring warmup stuff and get them excited. Don't "get them throwing" until other girls get there. Let the ones that get there early spend time socializing with their friends, dont' punish them for being early.

Don't start with throwing, start with hitting, do throwing later. Instead of lining them up in the dugout and talking at them (most coaches tend to talk at their kids rather then talk to them), have their captain get them out of the dugout and play ninja during the coin toss. The more relaxed they are, the better they will play.
