13-14 is about right, more if there are PO. 3 pitchers is what you want. 2 good ones and a another who is ok with less time, maybe who plays another position.

Heres this
13-14 on roster 4 pitchers.
Do the pitchers get secondary position playing time?

Is your dd a pitcher only?

What is your % of satisfactory playing time?
I don’t know….I’d like to see her pitch one pool game and maybe play IF a game. I’m good with best lineup in bracket play. But I think everyone should get an opportunity to show what they can do during pool play. I understand the dynamics of it all. I’m good with her not playing the field the game before she pitches. Or after, depending on how the last game went. But there are other things involved. Rain outs. Shortened pool play. 3 pool play games into double elimination.

My DD really wants to return to her team. Non parent coach is leaving but she really likes the new non parent coach. Problem is old coach only carried 3 pitchers. New coach wants to carry 4. New coach also wants to carry 13-14 girls, so field time will be limited when she doesn’t pitch. Thoughts?

A big factor in roster size is the goal of the team and then what type of tournaments you will be playing to achieve that goal. If the team is looking to get D1 college exposure for the girls and travelling to major national tournaments then you will need a larger roster.

High level teams that play big showcases and have a couple of PO specialist type players and kids going to college camps 14-16 players at 16u is not unusual. Lower level teams or teams where pitchers want to play secondary positions or players don't have college aspirations that's a lot to manage.

Definitely not traveling to national tournaments. Half the team has college aspirations. And those will be D2/D3 schools. And that includes the three current pitchers. Not sure of the rest.
