Is there any rule that says what color glove a pitcher can and can't use? Looking at a new glove plack with florescent green laces. Coach says she can't because rule that it resembles the color of the ball??

ASA, the pitchers glove may be one solid color or multi colored as long as none of the colors are the color of the ball being used in the game.

FED, glove may be a maximum of 2 colors not including the lacing. Lacing may not be the color of the ball.

A glove I'm thinking of is "the black Mizuno" glove, with the green on it. Then no see can't use it pitching, ump last year made a pitcher change her glove.

Last year at a usssa tourney, one of the AC's on the team bought his dd a custom colored glove. It was team colors...red, white, & navy blue. Plate ump says it was illegal and made her change it. So IMO, I would stick to black or tans only, because you never know whos going to have an issue.

While the above rule for NFHS/FED is correct, they have also added a couple of more specs to their glove rule. New for 2013:

Gloves/mitts shall not be entirely optic in color...Shall not have an optic-colored marking on the outside or inside that gives the appearance of the ball.

Unlike some others, NFHS does not differentiate between a pitcher's glove and the glove or mitt of any other positional player. Their above rules apply to ALL positions.

For the glove rules, you really need to know which sanctioning body you're playing under. There is no universal one-size-fits-all glove rule covering all of softball. They each have their own nuanced take on what constitutes a legal glove.

Here is the USSSA rule. It does not limit the number of colors of the glove. The umpire aparently decided himself the glove was distracting, but the rules themselves do not make it illegal.

Sec 9. GLOVES/MITTS
Gloves/mitts made of leather shall be worn by all fielders.
A. The glove/mitt worn by the catcher may be any size.
B. The glove/mitt may be any combination of colors except the color of the
game ball or optic. Glove lacing may be any color other than that of the
ball. The manufacturer’s logos are not considered a glove color. A gray,
white or optic colored circle on the outside or inside of the glove/mitt that
gives the appearance of a ball is illegal. A glove/mitt that is judged to be
distracting by the Umpire is illegal.

Optic what?

Glove lacing may be any color other than that of the

So the umpire can dump any glove/mitt regardless of color simply because s/he finds it distracting?

The kid I referred to earlier that had a custom glove, was a pitcher... idk if that was a determining factor or not. Her glove was navy blue with red and white highlights... no optic yellow. But the results were the same
