Someone posted some benchmarks required for trying out for the junior national team. It included being able to do 30 pushups.

I thought it would be fun to challenge DD's team to be able to do reach some minimum fitness standards.

Any suggestions?

A 5-minute wall sit might be another.

Needs to be something that requires some training, but is also realistic for everyone on a 18U team.

For example, a 2.7 time in the 20-yard dash is not realistic for everyone.

Chin ups are difficult for women. So if they do 1, that's pretty outstanding. Here's a blog for you from New York Times for you to read.

Wow, that's interesting. Had no idea.'

This quote -

“We’re a combination of levers; that’s how we move,” Vanderburgh said. “Generally speaking, the longer the limb, the more of a disadvantage in being able to do a pull-up.''

Makes me wonder if there's an advantage or disadvantage for hitting softballs/baseballs based on body type (ie, length of arms), and whether certain body types might do better with different styles of hitting.
