I know ShawnC has already gotten his DD a sweet Rawlings glove but I thought I'd ask what you guys thought about the Mizuno Global Elite series? Currently advertised at $89 ($250 MSRP)...does this glove fall in between the old floppy Mizuno Classics and the Pro Select series? At that price point it would seem to be a decent value for some folks here if the glove itself holds up for more than a season or three?
Tatonka, I'm definitely not a Mizuno expert, I know Rawlings and Vinci's much better. What size glove are you looking for to buy your DD, what is her primary position? The reason I ask is I got the email from JBG's today and they are running a big sale on Global Elites.
Earlier I sent a email to a big Mizuno guy I know asking about the 12" Global Elite GGE11 and what's really the difference in the VOP GGE11V leather and the regular GGE11, basically which one is actually a better glove? The guy who's done some re-lacing for me told me that with the Global Elite models, that's where Mizuno really starts to step up with much better internals! Anna's played with a couple of girls who used the GE, they're a huge step up over the classic all the way around!
For $89 or $99, buy with confidence cause that's a smoking deal, buy two! A couple of guys over at SoftballFans.com have done some reviews on the Pro Select, GLOWING reviews!! They're saying it's easily comparable to a Heart of the Hide and a A2000, maybe stiffer! I haven't heard if the GE is being phased out or not, but it sorta looks like the Pro Select is taking it's place since everybody has the GE on massive blowout.
Is the $89 Global Elite you're looking at a 12.75" mod-trap glove at Softball.com? If so it's a great deal!
