What are your favorite games to play to liven up practice? Mine is called "Three Outs." You need a SS, 3B, 1B and C with gear on. Start with runners on 1B, 3B, and home plate. Here's how it works:
Coach at home plate hits a ground ball to SS. Runners at 1B and home start to run. Runner at 3B takes a lead, then waits for SS. SS looks runner back to 3B, then throws to 1B. Runner at 3B breaks for home. The goal is to make the out at 1B, then 1B throws home to catch the runner from 3B. Meanwhile, the runner who started on 1B is trying to get to 3B on the play. Once the catcher makes the tag play at home, you try to get the out at 3B.
The runners go: 1) home to first; 2) 1st to 3rd; 3) 3rd to home.
The ball goes: ground ball to short, look runner back at 3rd and throw to first. Ball then goes from first to home, and then to third for three outs.
