Eligibility -- this is a funny first for me

I'm behind the plate for a middle school softball game followed by "B innings" afterwards. "B innings" are just a chance to get the younger kids/lower grades a chance to play. We don't handle line up cards and they add all kinds of things to keep it moving (such as 3 outs, 5 runs, or 9 batters per 1/2 inning). Point being, not as serious as the regular game.

My partner comes in to see me between innings. He is shaking his head and chuckling. "Did you hear any of that?"

I'm mystified. "Any of what?"

"The AD just pulled the coach aside and asked who she had playing left field. The coach didn't know who the girl was. Nobody in the dugout knew her last name. They don't start school till next week, so the AD asked the coach if the girl even goes to their school. The coach said she thought the girl is somebody's younger sister and she had been coming to practice and games for two weeks."

All I could think of for the next 1/2 inning ...
