Let's face it, Doug has a motion which is not strong in some of the things that are emphasized today. Not much brush interference, if any at all, and not much front side resistance.

Doug was one of the first to advocate what he referred to as "brush assisted whip".

That may be so but we as we all know there is sometimes a difference between what players say they do and what they actually do. If you slow down the videos from Lyons College it looks like he is at release before the brush takes effect. He has a different arm action than you typically see.
