Conversation in Rules thread
'Clear path for base runners'
brought this subject to mind.
When defense is planning to receive throws at the bases coming in from behind the runner~
Examples
Second baseperson trying to receive throw on a steal to second base.
Or
First baseperson coming from behind the baseline trying to receive back pick from catcher.
Or
Second baseperson trying to come from behind runner at first to try and receive back pick.
As a runner my body is going to be between the ball and them and there glove.
As a runner would rather purposely block the throw with my body if need be.
As a runner know if they don't have the ball my body will return to the base whether they are in the way or not.
This MAY induce responses like
...seriously as a runner you would purposely.....
YES. Purposely perform to WIN !
Within the rules and not intending to hurt anyone nor myself.
*The point is runners body can/will get between the throw and receiver!
*At times the receiver will be in the base line without the ball.
Might be good conversation to consider.
GO SOFTBALL !!!
