Haven't watched a ton of softball this year, but Stearns's performance was as good as I have seen this year...2-hit shutout, 9 K's, 0 walks versus an Oklahoma team that leads the nation with a .380 team batting average.
In situations such as this I often wonder if Oklahoma was Stearns' first choice school and they didn't choose her. So she has extra incentive to show them what they missed.
She had it all working last night... hard (68mph) up and out of the zone...offspeed low with movement...inside and outside off the plate...very impressive. I do not know how Baylor uses their pitchers, so will Stearns start tonight and/or tomorrow?
It is also fun to watch Chamberlain & Pendlay chase home run history!
Stearns started games 1 & 2 against OK St and 1 & 3 against TX Tech, so there's no pattern. In both cases, she didn't fare nearly as well in the 2nd start.
