batting cage/ practice bats

Guys,

I had a question about using practice bats ? my daughter uses practice bats off the machines but uses her good bat during soft toss or front toss with real softballs.
Obviously you shouldnt use a good bat in a cage against those dimpled balls but what if the machine is using real softballs?
Also any good reason to use a wood bat during practice?

If I might make a suggestion, find a decent composite wooden bat and purchase that for your daughter. A plain wooden bat works just as well but I've gotten more mileage from the composite wooden bat. My dd hits with wood more than half of the time in practice.
