elbow up is a god cue if you throw and swing with similar pattern.

in the throw, you say "keep the elbow up".

Same thing in the swing.

the thing that drops the bat is letting the back elbow come down and forward (adduction/flexion of back arm).

instead the elbow needs to stay more up and back as the arm externally rotates so the hands stay back and go "up and over".

This can help.

I have seen having the back elbow down create a strong temptation to get the back elbow too far ahead and drag.

We say not up or down however the elbow must be away to come down to slot or lower and it can not come down if it is already down.( the elbow)
