Am I being too strict on my rec players?

Being intense and engaging them keeps it fun. Thats why I am totally against dumming down the rules for rec league. (NO leads, No steals etc)
By allowin them to lead steal and take an extra base it keeps them and the defense engaged. If not they get bored and Quit.
