The new coach understands she is not going to quit old team and says staying with them is the right thing to do. Old coach doesn’t know yet I am going to tell him at next practice. New team is much better and plays in bigger better tournaments. So this move will be good for dd in the Fall. Old team is C class and I’ve heard parents around fields saying “that pitcher was pitching for a team in A class last weekend so she can’t pitch for this team in C class”. This is main reason for me starting this thread. Is there any truth to this.

It depends. ASA, PONY, USSSA, PGF all have different rules. When DD was younger, she played on her town travel team (which is classified as B/C) and a club team classified as A. Because she was rostered, she could not play in any of the town travel tournaments of the same organizing body (i.e. ASA). Guest play may/may not be different. There are Add/drop rules, etc.

It will usually only matter if either team is going to Nationals as she could be prevented from attending if deemed to be rostered and not just guest player. The organization body directors will be the ones to ask, just to be sure.

There is nothing wrong with picking up with another team as long as she's keeping her commitment to the current team until the season ends.

We have turned down a very good opportunity because we don't believe in leaving a team in the middle of the season. Turning it down likely cost my DD a little bit in the sense that it was a really good team that she likely wouldn't have been on the next year, but the experience of being on that team would have lead to being on better team than what she's on now. She's in a good spot now though, so it's all good.

She just wants to ride the bench in the game if we play the new team so she is not playing for either team. Or even let both coaches no she is not available for that weekend. Our old team or current team is a 1st year coach that makes things up as he goes so maybe we will not even play in that tournament. In south Louisiana we get a lot of rain outs. We have 2 weeks to see what happens.

Problem solved we played in our tournament this weekend still playing at 1:30 am championship game. She pitched her heart out as our 1 pitcher. We got beat. Last inning. Next day coach calls and ask if she was playing for another team. I told him she picked up last weekend when we weren’t scheduled to play. He said ok then got on our team group message and told everyone she was kicked off the team because she was not dedicated enough to our team. He doesn’t realize our assistant coach’s kid has been picking up for 2 years. Oh well we tried to do the right thing by finishing out the season but now we are moving on.

All you can do is try to do the right thing. If he is willing to kick off a player that is the #1 pitcher for playing when you are off, oh well, you are now able to go to the better team. Have fun.
