What nsitutes catcher obstruction/interference & situation

They called her safe because I somehow kept her from touching home plate. When I had setup on the first base side, it was out of instinct and positioning. I came around the front of my body to apply the tag and only the upper rim of my mitt was what touched the brim of her helmet. She didn't touch home until I was applying the tag. We did end up winning the game in the bottom of the inning via run rule.

What I would say to you is that perhaps your position in relation to home plate was not what you say or think that it was. While you may have started out on the 1st base side of the plate it's possible that you did not stay there prior to receiving the ball.

Now once you are in possession of the ball, you are legally allowed to block the plate so there should be no call of obstruction in that case. BUT.......... If you took a blocking position prior to receiving the ball & in the umpire's judgement, that positioning somehow obstructed the runner? Well.........
