Umpiring a little league softball semifinal playoff game tonight, here's the scenario:

No outs, no runners. Batter has a 3-1 count. Pitch comes in. Batter half-swings and contacts the ball. The ball bounces straight down on the plate, then comes straight up and hits the bat while the bat is motionless, over the plate, in the hands of the batter. The ball bounces off the bat again and goes behind the catcher's right side foul.

I declared the ball foul. The batter then walks on the next pitch. Is this the right call? There was 100% NO intent to interfere with the ball after contact - the girl was clueless/unsure where the ball was and didn't move until after the 2nd contact was made until I yelled "FOUL".
