When I saw Cannonball posting in the pitching forum I thought the Russians hacked the site.

Rich a few years back when my daughter was still pitching, (12’s), we played around with a speed routine that involved underweighted balls. I thought it was pretty beneficial. Might have got it from Rick Pauley site.

I use one regularly. Its used primarily for the cross fire drill. (see SHAKER1 youtube link posted above for details) We bounce it into a wall from about 20' away while standing at an approx. angle of 45ish degrees.... This really creates a violent snap over for her drop ball.
I'll also use it when teaching the riseball grip and spin. If done correctly and spun up into the air a couple feet, when it falls and hits the ground it will bounce backwards...this proves her spin is correct. If it bounces off to the left or right, it'll prove her spin axis is wrong.

Ok cross fire is what Pauly does...where the pitcher stands a foot or two to the right and the catcher stands the other way and you throw it short and basically bounce it half way to the catcher.

I assume that the additional weight has them feel the release.

I saw the drill years ago but never looked into it.

Yes. It's Paulys drill. The extra weight really emphasizes the IR and feel. It's important to NOT let the kids do this full speed. Only do it from a K or T position at about 3/4 speed. Her hand will really snap over creating more drop spin
