FFS so the shoulders opening as I described is what you mean by " to wide". I think I understand your term.

The ‘mouse’, in the ‘mouse test’, refers to a ‘computer mouse’ which can be moved to hover a ‘cursor’ over the knob of the bat at the 'launch position'. In the GIF below a vertical blue line is drawn at this point. One then reviews the swing to observe the arcing of the barrel tip relative to the ‘mouse’, or in this case relative to the ‘blue vertical line’. The swing is said to pass the mouse test if the barrel is arc’d/orbited/turned/worked behind the ‘mouse’ (… vertical blue line). The swing below passes the 'mouse test'.

Does anyone else see a GIF with this ^^^ post? I don't. Not sure if it's just me.

I get the description, though. I'm pretty sure my DD would fail this test.

Too wide ... as in the initial axis of barrel rotation is too wide. Since I recently posted a GIF of the 'mouse test', think in terms of failing the mouse test.

What you describe in your fourth paragraph would be an example of 'too wide of an initial axis of barrel rotation'.

Just a quick guess? Are you speaking of the 'short to portion' of the swing?
