So if I am explaining it to her can I say "hips then hands"?

I think that cue is fine, and use it myself with a lot of my girls that want to have everything moving forward at the same time. Currently, in her load/stride, she is moving her hands back with her leg kick, and then letting them come forward as she strides. A good way to explain it to her is that her hands should be at their apex (furthest point back) when her stride foot lands. My daughter is having trouble with this as well, but we're getting there.

Ok - now, how would you explain that to a 12 year old girl, lol? I'm obviously not getting a good grasp of how to explain it although I can see what you mean on the video. I will also show this to her as well and maybe that will help.

One thing I often do is to stand behind the hitter and hold their bat and rear shoulder in place as they turn their rear hip forward. I ask them to feel the build-up of tension up their back, between their rear hip and their rear shoulder. In the context of a full swing, recreate that tension/stretch by pulling back with the top half against the forward turn of the bottom half. That tension is a critical link. Knowing what it feels like helps the learning process.

Your DD will do fine....but, if you are looking for better then just fine....someones going to need to learn the proper sequence ....you, her hitting coach or.....
Your DD starts off with a sway then....opps this is the 'practical' hitting thread. Someone needs to ask questions. If not.....

Posture from the side, the head moves over the back hip/knee during the load. The head should be more over the front hip or center during the load.

There's some stuff in here that may be helpful in getting her weight distribution and sequence headed in a better direction...

Watch the video eric posted and then think about getting her into the model position versus what she is doing.

when her heel plant her hands should be at there farthest point back and her hips should not have unloaded and her elbow should not be slotted

Stone is surface dwelling with his video, but I get that it can help at least see the differences.

Chamberlain is one legged - everything she does is to hold back the rear leg that is straining, fighting, pressuring to turn forward.

Watch when the barrel starts rearward and what her rear leg is doing. It's not the foot doing the work.
Her belt buckle is turning forward as the barrel is going rearward. The rear leg is making that happen.
