Do this, plus get some Surf City Voodoo Blend leather conditioner and treat the rest of the leather and laces. We bought the black/tan version a few weeks ago and have it ready to showcase this weekend!

#10, last week I gave my Pro1000 a thin wipe down with Voodoo Blend, mainly focusing on the palm and pocket where it was getting a little dry. This is my second time using it. Don’t get me wrong, I love Lexol, great product but the Surf City is my new go to! I’m still using my Jobsite beeswax as a sealer, it’s great and my container is still half full. To me it’s as good as Obenauf’s it just has no smell, Obenauf’s smells awesome, so next time that’s what I’ll buy.

I have Fort83’s DD’s new BV1929 here, it’s getting ready to get a coating of both and some hand shaping while I watch the Red Sox smack the Dodgers!

 Ain't over yet, my friend!
So we need us a little internet / forum wager! I personally think the Sox are a little more talented offensively, BUT, this series is going to come down to coaching! Cora is aggressive and very unconventional, smart manager

Can I assume that once dry, there's no residue from using either of these products?

And using it on the inside of the glove doesn't make your hand feel any hotter / 'sweatier'?

I'm debating whether to go 'au natural' during the break-in process of a new Vinci catchers mitt, or help the break-in period along with some conditioner. Also will be trying to restore my father's baseball glove (red, white and blue leather, probably purchased in the 1950's?), so trying to figure out the best product that won't drastically darken the leather.

As far as the Vinci break in, you don’t have to use anything, Vinci’s come new with a good bit of oil infused into them. As far as the beeswax (Obenauf’s or Jobsite) for the palm liner and hand opening binding, that’s to seal the leather and keep sweat and moisture from penetrating the leather, sweat is a leather killer! It just takes a very thin coat inside and neither of those products feel greasy.

As far as your dad’s glove, I’d trust either the Surf City Voodoo or Lexol, both are excellent products that people trust with old, rare, and expensive leather seats in very expensive cars! To me the Surf City doesn’t get the leather quiet as wet when using, it has a creamy consistency like lotion.

Gags, look at it this way, if you sent your dad’s glove to the two ballglove restorers I know.....probably two of the best there is and I know there’s a lot of good ones out there. Both of these guys would use the products I listed. One would probably use the Surf City inside and out, just it, the other would definitely use Obenauf’s inside the glove, maybe the seal entire glove with it and condition it with Lexol, not sure if he’s tried or is using Surf City yet? And both would clean the glove with Lexol leather cleaner in the orange bottle......hopefully, if it’s not too delicate.

DEFINITELY seal the innards and binding with beeswax, especially if the mitt gets used a lot and/or in a lot of hot weather. The palm liner in DD's old CMW3000 looks like lizard skin from all the cracking caused by sweat. Sealing the interior not only protects the leather, but also the stitching that holds everything together.

The Voodoo Blend doesn't leave any residue whatsoever, and as an added bonus doesn't darken the leather whatsoever. It's like applying hand lotion for your mitt.
