My DD is about to start her sophomore year of high school and is ready to take the leap from a drop 10 to a drop 9. We have always been Demarini owners...she swings a Demarini Insane currently. I realize brand is a matter of preference to the girl swinging the bat but can anyone who owns either bat give me a small review of likes and dislikes of both bats? Thank you in advance!

Here what we notice! My DD went from a Demarini CF8 balance 32/22 to a LXT Hyper 32/22. The first thing we notice is the handle is a little thicker on the LXT for my DD this was a big issue at first ( DD have small hands) now she got used to it. Second according to her the LXT feels heavier kind of like an endloaded bat as she describes it... IMO Both good bats but i would prefer the Demarini it seems a better quality.. How ever we are stock with the LXT for now and is getting the job done!

It's ALL a matter of preference. The top end bats from all manufacturers are great. It really comes down to what feels best in each hitter's hands.

Soph in HS:

If she knows how to hit and also has solid swing mechanics, then either of these high end bats, among others, will do just fine.

The hitter will make the bat look good (or not), not the other way around.

Seriously, by this age, if she knows how to hit and also how to swing then there isn't more than 30 seconds worth of 'difference in feel' nuance between one high end bat and the next. I'm not saying that there isn't a difference in feel. I'm saying that the difference really doesn't make a difference after she takes a handful of swings.

Ok, on to something more specific about the bats you mentioned. I don't care for the blue/aqua coloring on the LXT. It's just a personal preference. The bat and graphics are fine. I just don't care for that color on houses, cars, or bats. See, it really was all about the color of the bat all along ;)

This is the single reason why my DD refuses to try an LXT. She thinks they are "uuuuuuglyyyyy!!!"

I agree with Eric. I've given up fighting with my DD regarding equipment choices based on cosmetics. It's a lost cause! lol. My DD did recently switch from Easton to L/S after trying a friends LXT Hyper and really liking it. Easton and Demarini are far more prevalent in my area than L/S. I'm sure a lot of that is because you can find previous year model of Demarini cheaper than previous year model of L/S. Easton you can find previous year model for 45-55% off list. If my DD didn't have a friend using LXT Hyper, she'd of never tried one out and would still be swinging Easton. lol

My older DD has been LXT for a few years. Her favorite is the 2016 LXT. She has the 2017 LXT but hates the feel of it. 2016 has been rattling with things moving around and sounding funny since middle summer 2016. Tried to go with the 2017 but its more end loaded and feels terrible according to her. Keeps going to the 2016 even though I think its broke.

My younger DD also a LXT girl. Umpire told her 2016 LXT is broke cause the handle is spinning. Got her a CF9 Hope. It sits in her bag. Younger still uses her spinning LXT. I don't think it's broke yet.

Point?
It doesn't matter which bat as long as she is confident with it!!!

PS: reviews say the CF8 is hotter than CF9. I read somewhere PGF nationals pulled CF8 from play due to some test of theirs.

The Demarini CFs will be closer to sticker than the LXT...so the LXT is actually heavier than the Demarini
