Yikes, that looks miserable. My DD picked up once for a TN team and played there in the sleet. They finally called the tournament but she said it was the most miserable softball experience she'd ever had. We got rained out last weekend, and it's not looking good this weekend either. It's been raining for just about 2 weeks straight, and cold (for GA this time of year anyway). It's supposed to stop today, but no sun. I'm sure the fields are awful. We've only played two fall tournaments. Can't seem to get any more in :(

We are playing our first tournament Saturday in Southwest GA. The rain is supposed to be done today, I think. I’m tired of this dreary, cold weather.

When we played a few weeks ago it was a little cool, but the real highlight was wind gusting up to 45 mph. I was reminded of the wind this Saturday when I tried to slip my ball cap on and found it adjusted about a 1/2 inch too tight.

Here is a link from an article about Reelfoot Lake. I've been there and there are placards all of the place stating this.

The question for us this weekend is how smokey is too smokey. We are flying down from Seattle to play in the Bay Area. It looks horrible down there.

Robertc3- it is. While they say the AQI is supposed to improve on Saturday, they have been wrong all week as the levels are getting worse every day, not better. Today we are over 200, which is very unhealthy, and some areas are reporting hazardous levels. Sac. area tourneys cancelled last weekend, all outdoor events have been cancelled so far, and several events in the in the East Bay and South Bay areas were cancelled yesterday. All outdoor events are likely to be cancelled again unless we see dramatic improvement. I can't see more than 1/2 a mile out of my window (I can typically see mountains 120 miles away) right now, and there is no fog, just smoke and haze.

Thank you EGH. We are schedule to play in Hayward and the TD just sent out an email saying all games are on schedule. We could get credit on the plane tickets if we cancel today or tomorrow morning. It less an issue of will the games happen and more a question of should we subject our girls and our families to the smoke. Washington had bad smoke this summer, so we all know how bad it can be.

Hoping they cancel it tonight, RC3. Two school districts in our area have cancelled school for the rest of the week (we are all off next week as well). It's getting ridiculous. Wish that our tournament director (we are playing in Sac area this week) would stop praying for a miracle and cancel ours ahead of time so we can head to the mountains or coast and get out of this bad air.

Robert - I work in downtown Oakland and the visibility was terrible this morning. Reports are saying that air quality on Friday is expected to be worse and most schools in the heart of the Bay Area will be closed tomorrow.

NorCal soccer has already canceled state cup games for this weekend as well. Hopefully they make the decision to cancel this tourney in time for you to get a credit for your plane tickets.

California Central Coast Section has moved my DD's High School's football playoff game to Salinas from Sunnyvale on Saturday. This is the 4th time this football game has been delayed because of the air quality. They also moved the CCS cross country championship meet down there on Saturday as well.

She had a softball tournament down in Salinas last weekend. Air quality was 'yellow' down there, so they played. I heard a tournament last weekend in the Fremont/Hayward area the tournament wasn't cancelled, but a few teams dropped out at the last minute because of air quality.
