Default MLB As-Astros finish looks like 10U rec game

    Check this out...

Shouldn't the batter have been out when he went backwards?

I believe there is no rule about going backwards towards 1st base in MLB like there is in SB but I could be wrong, it's been known to happen on more than one occasion.

But yes that play looked like it could have been my daughter's 14U team at times.

I saw earlier that in Baseball the going backward in that situation isn't against the rules like it is in softball.

My wife said "They Panther'd it" using our team name as a verb.

In a 10U all-star game this year DD came up with the bases loaded and two outs. She was fooled by a pitch but made enough contact for the ball to land maybe a foot in front of the plate. The catcher and pitcher both went for it, no one covered the plate, and the runner at third managed to make it past both of them in the confusion. By the time they realized they couldn't get that runner, they focused on DD, who ran as fast as I've seen her run and made it to first before the throw.

DD was embarrassed that her ugly dribbler was an RBI single. I'm going to have to show her this video to see that an even uglier play drove in a game-winning run in extra innings (and Bregman doesn't look the slightest bit embarrassed about it).

It all goes in the score book the same.

I know. I told her it looked like a line drive in the score book.
